Welcome to my blog! My name is Lesley Boone, and I am currently a 2nd grade teacher in Bowie, Maryland. I've been teaching for 20 years in different areas from primary grades to Special Education. I am a Nationally Board Certified teacher (2008) in Early Childhood and currently served a candidate support provider and a mentor for candidates going through the process of National Board Certification.
I love teaching and look forward to learning more about the field and applying the knowledge to my classroom. As an early childhood teacher, every day is different. I look forward to the moments of wonder and the excitement of learning something new.
Play was a big part of my childhood experience. I rode bikes, walked in streams ( caught a salamander and tadpoles), made forts with blankets and towels, played with Barbies and stuffed animals and played games with my family. I still encourage play and exploration in my classroom and with my own children.
Here's a picture of me at the age of four in Libya (notice no grass in the front yard).
