By providing a clear message to the audience who are listening helps them comprehend the purpose and goal of the policy change that you are promoting or supporting. It is uncluttered with extraneous thoughts or ideas. Another communication skill that was mentioned was courtesy. I believe that courtesy is underrated as a skill that can be impactful in its ability to create change. By showing respect for others, understanding and listening to the audience and displaying manners can go a long way in influencing the acceptance of ideas and change.
Reflecting upon my own communication skills, I try to promote ideas by providing a clear message to whomever I happen to be speaking with at the time. I am a very passionate speaker about specific topics and I personally have been working hard to provide a clear and concise message when I talk and write. I am still working on those skills. I tend to lack organization if I do not prepare myself ahead of time. I think that as I experience more opportunities to speak to different groups, my confidence in my ability to provide a clear and concise message to my audience will increase.
